Palak Pappu / Spinach Dal


Palak / spinach green leafy vegetable is known for high Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and its Vitamin Content. Definitely a good choice to add to your menu.  And it is very good for health... and it is again a easy to cook dish... Lots of dishes are prepared with palak such as Palak paneer, Palak in Moong dal, Palak Sabji, Palak Stir fry etc. I normaly serve this with chapathi and it tastes awesome. It can even be served with just plain rice with Ghee.




Ingredients for Palak Pappu / Spinach Dal :

1 bunch of palak 
1 cup Toor dal 
1 med Onion 
1 med Tomato 
6 green chillies
1tbs turmeric 
Lemon size Tamarind
Salt as per taste
For Tempering :
3 tsp Olive oil
1/2 tsp Mustered seeds
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds 
A pinch of Hing /Asafoetida
1 string Curry leaves
2 sliced Red chillies
4 clove garlic sliced

To prepare Palak Pappu / Spinach Dal :

1. Cut the onion, tomato in to medium picese 
2. Take a pressure cooker and add chopped Palak, Dal, Onions, Tomatoes, Green Chillies, Turmeric, Tamarind and 2cups of water and pressure cook for 4 vishal. Switch off the flame and allow the pressure to go off. Add required amount of salt to this boiled dal.
3. In a small frying pan add 3 tsp oil, Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Hing /Asafoetida, Red chillies and Garlic and saute till it becomes brown. Add this tempering to Dal and cover the lid and cook it for 5 more minutes.
4. Palak Pappu / Spinach Dal is ready to serve. Serve hot with Chapati or plain rice.

Aloo Spinach / Potato Palak Masala


A side dish with gravy using Spinach and Potatoes. Aloo Palak | Potato Spinach Masala is a very popular dish of North India. I really enjoyed eating this with hot Chapati. There are different types of methods to prepare the Aloo Palak / Potato Spinach Masala Recipe. This is my simplest way....


Ingredients for Aloo Spinach / Potato Palak Masala :

3 med Potatoes cut into 4 pieces each
3 to 4 cup Finely Chopped Spinach
1 to 2 no Tomatoes
3-4 tbsp Olive oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 med Onion Finely Chopped
1/2 tbsp Red Chilly Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt as per taste 

To prepare Aloo Spinach / Potato Palak Masala :

1. Peel and cut the potatoes into 4 pieces  and pressure cook it.
2. Heat a tbsp of olive oil in a pan, add Chopped Spinach and fry till raw smell leaves. The spinach will take 5 to 7 minutes to boil. Turn off the burner and allow spinach to coo naturally. Then grind it with tomatoes properly in a mixture to make a puree.
3. Heat remaining olive oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, Ginger-Garlic paste and onions, fry till onion turn golden brown.
4. Add Spinach and tomato puree and cook for 5 min then add red chilly powder, salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder, mix well and cook for 5 more min.
5. Finally add cooked potatoes, cook for 2 more min. Aloo Spinach / Potato Palak Masala is ready.
6. Serve hot with Chapati / roti / paratha / non /rice.

Soya Chunks Palak


Soya Chunks Palak Recipe is a easy to cook, nutritious and healthy Palak Curry Recipe. It is high in protein and iron. Pre cooked soya chunks cooked with spicy Palak-spinach curry. Soya chunks is rich extremely high in protein, good amount of vitamins, minerals and fibre.


Ingredients for Soya Chunks Palak :

1 cup - Soya Chunks.
3 to 4 cup Finely Chopped Spinach
1 to 2 no Tomatoes
3-4 tbsp Olive oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 med Onion Finely Chopped
Ginger - 1 tbsp Finely Chopped
Garlic - 1 tbsp Finely Chopped
1/2 tbsp - Red Chilly Powder
1 tbsp - Corianderpowder
1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
Salt as per taste 

To prepare Soya Chunks Palak :

1. Cook soya chunks in water then keep it in normal water.
2. Heat a tbsp of olive oil in a pan, add Chopped Spinach and fry till raw smell leaves. The spinach will take 5 to 7 minutes to boil. Turn off the burner and allow spinach to coo naturally. Then grind it with tomatoes properly in a mixture to make a puree.
3.  Heat remaining olive oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and onions, fry it till onion turn golden brown colour.
4. Add Spinach and tomato puree and cook for 5 min then add red chilly powder, salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder, mix well and cook for 5 more min.
5. Finally add soy chunks, cook for 2 more min Soya Chunk Palak is ready.
6. Serve hot with Chapati  / roti / paratha / non /rice.

Palak (Spinach)-stir-fry


Quick to make and good to eat is the perfect caption for Palak Ki Subzi! This is a tasty vegetable dish and it is full of good nutrients too



Ingredients:

2 big bunches fresh spinach leaves (choped and washed thoroughly)
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 dry red chillis
1tsp bengal gram dal/channa dal/senaga pappu
1tsp split black gram dal/urad dal/minappapu
1- onion finely chopped
2 green chillis, slit
pinch turmeric pwd
5-6 garlic flakes, 10-12 curry leaves
Dhaniya powder 1tsp
salt to taste

To prepare Palak-stir-fry:

1. Heat olive oil, add the mustard seeds and once they splutter, add the cumin seeds, channa dal and urad dal, once the dal turns red, add the garlic flakes, red chillis, green chillis and curry leaves and saute for half a minute.
2. Add the onions and saute till transparent, approx 4-5 mts.
3. Add the chopped spinach leaves once the spinach cooked for 80% add salt, dhaniya and cook for 2 more min. Turn off the stove.
Serve hot with rice or Chapati.
